Willis “Bill” Franklin Short passed away October 26, 2019 at his home in Burnet, Texas. He was born on June 7, 1928 in Houston, Texas.
Bill was raised in Houston Texas and received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Houston. Bill married Margie Metz on September 4, 1948, the two of the were inseparable until her death in 2005. Bill worked for a short time helping the Houston Police Department until he figured out it would be a tough way to make a living and support his family. After his short stint in law enforcement he went to work at the local Chevrolet dealership in Houston and eventually went into the insurance business. He briefly owned his own car lot in Houston before retiring in 1995 to Highland Haven, Texas. During retirement, Bill and Margie enjoyed taking their pontoon boat out on Lake LBJ every morning to enjoy their coffee together. Bill loved people, he had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. He also enjoyed taking Margie to all her social events and driving his Model A Ford in the local parades. Bill moved from Highland Haven in 2018 to Burnet, Texas where he spent his final year.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Betsy Anne Brooks and husband Ronnie of Saginaw, Texas, grandchildren, Ashlea Brook and Trevor Brooks, and great-grandchildren, Savannah, Wyatt and Cora.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Margie Short, brother, Walter, and sister Shirley Short
